Caught in the night where it is suffocating and cold, a million teeth and claws tearing against the flesh it is imprisoned in. Entrenched in the soul is a darkness and the cold despair that resides within. No escape, no reprieve for the ones trapped here.
Kat, lay curled up in the darkness, her left side wracked with a searing pain that never seemed to subside. She had been trapped here for what felt like an eternity, unable to escape the torment of her own body.
“You will wither and die here,” the creature mocked, its voice echoing in Kat’s mind. “Can you feel it under your skin? I know you can.”
Kat’s tears flowed freely as the night dragged on, the pain in her side intensifying with each passing moment. But just as she was about to give up hope, a faint glimmer of light danced upon the walls, beckoning her forward.
“It’s okay to be sad,” the creature comforted. “I will never leave you.”
But Kat could no longer tolerate the pain on her left side. She thought of all the things she had lost, and all the things she could never do again. But then, something shifted within her. A spark of defiance that had long been dormant ignited, and she knew what she had to do. She lifted the blade and held it over her left arm. You will miss me!” it exclaimed. “I will haunt you, even as a ghost.”The blade paused, Kat’s resolve wavering
Kat focused her thoughts, channeling all her strength and willpower. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and when she opened them again, she was no longer in the darkness. She was standing in a bright room, surrounded by friends and family who had been with her all along.
Kat smiled through her tears, feeling a sense of hope and relief that she had never thought possible. She knew that the pain in her left side would never truly go away, but she also knew that she was not alone. She would face her struggles head-on, and she would always have the support and love of those around her.
As she emerged into the light, she felt a sense of renewal and hope that she had not felt in years. But it was short-lived, as she realized that there was no escape from the darkness that had consumed her. There was no cure for the condition that had plagued her for so long.
With a heavy heart, Kat returned to the darkness, knowing that she would never be truly free. But she vowed to fight on, to never give up hope, and to find joy in the moments of light that shone through the darkness.
